Volunteering at Dudley
Advocacy
Volunteer advocates support someone on a one to one basis where there is an identified, appropriate issue. Advocacy partnerships may be short term or long term depending on the individual’s needs and requirements. We match volunteers with advocacy partners very carefully, taking into consideration the advocacy issues, the availability of the volunteer, travel times etc. Volunteer advocates may be required to perform a variety of tasks which could include:-
-
Gathering information so that their advocacy partner can make an informed choice
-
Supporting their advocacy partner to write letters
-
Liaising with and contacting others on behalf of their advocacy partner
-
Asking questions on behalf of their advocacy partner
-
Supporting and/or representing their advocacy partner at a meeting
-
Translating documents into something understand
Full induction training is provided for all volunteers with regular supervision and external training opportunities. Volunteers are not comitted to giving a set number of hours per month and can be flexible to fit around your own committments.
